The objective reality of this holocaust is catching up with the subjective reality that we’ve been presented with by the media, including much of the “alternative” media. There has been a hope among many that Trump’s second term would represent a break from the imperialist, monopolistic paradigm which the deep state seeks to enforce. And when Trump cut off many parts of USAID’s funding at the start of his term, this appeared to prove that expectation right; but it was nothing more than a switch-over in the empire’s methods for violence. And now, with the massacres that the Zionist entity has committed after using aid to draw Palestinians into crowds, the USA’s people are being exposed to the outcome of this. We’re seeing what happens when we put our faith in any one wing of the ruling class, and let that wing carry on without sufficient resistance.
This project to weaponize aid is being facilitated by the same forces which the White House diverted more resources towards after the USAID cuts. The real purpose of the cuts was to transform much of Washington’s soft-power network into covert operations efforts, letting the empire better hide many of its activities. With Gaza, though, these crimes can’t remain hidden, at least not if we choose to draw attention to them. We can clearly see the Zionist entity forcing desperate people to move within confined, densely packed areas to get tiny amounts of aid, and then taking advantage of their vulnerability to murder dozens of them at a time. And we know that a key part of this is the CIA-linked private contractors who’ve filled an assistant role, profiting off of the occupier’s scheme to trap and slaughter defenseless refugees.
It’s not enough that we expose this reality, though, because speaking truth to power is no longer productive on its own. We haven’t been able to stop the genocide by talking about it online, or by publicly confronting the perpetrators, because the pro-Palestine movement has so far lacked real organizational power. Without networks that can not just mobilize people, but build a sustainable community presence that keeps building on itself, truth to power often becomes counterproductive. Those who’ve become aware of the genocide are left without a tangible means for changing the balance of power, and made to sit with a sense of helplessness over the horrors they keep getting confronted with.
It’s because of this problem, where the masses have been given access to information on the genocide while not having a means to join in on the fight, that the “Trump is pro-Palestine” narrative has gotten so much traction. The pro-Palestine base sees the failures of the organized left to stop this evil, so a fair number of people who support Palestine have either voted for Trump or have placed hope within him. It’s why MAGA in general has gotten so much mass pull: a lot of the most disillusioned and class-conscious Americans have been looking for an ally, and Trump presented himself as an ally of the people. It’s the same process that created the Bernie Sanders movement; except with Trump, the mass momentum has been able to continue for a much longer time.
How much will this news about the ongoing atrocities in Gaza weaken the Trump psyop? Since the 2024 election, the pattern we’ve kept seeing is that vocal parts of Trump’s base get angry at Trump whenever he betrays MAGA, like we saw with Trump’s neocon appointments or his H-1B support. And a lot of MAGA supporters beyond the social media spaces are increasingly critical of Trump’s decisions, including his recent approval of a plan to use Palantir for spying on the USA’s people. This trend towards alienation from Trump will definitely keep growing; a crucial question is which political currents will be able to bring in these disillusioned Americans.
How communists and anti-imperialists engage with the MAGA base pertains not just to our success in winning over former Trump supporters, but to our broader success in the class war. What we must avoid is opposing the state’s actions from a perspective of American exceptionalism. From the viewpoint that imperialist policies are bad not because they’re imperialist, but because they hurt the USA’s ability to make deals with Eurasia. It’s this flawed type of “antiwar” perspective that’s enabling Trump’s special envoy Steven Witkoff to pursue a “peace” with Iran where Iran would be made into a U.S. client state. And it’s this psyop about a false “peace” that’s letting the empire carry out its present pivot, where resources for certain NGO programs have been funneled into different methods of global destruction.
As communists, we of course want America to cooperate with China, Russia, and Iran; but that cooperation will only be able to have an anti-imperialist character after the USA has undergone its workers revolution. As long as the capitalist class remains in power here, “detente” with these countries will be a covert means for advancing imperialism, and for prolonging the empire’s extermination campaigns. Insofar as detente can happen with an imperialist power, any serious initiatives for “peaceful coexistence” will aid imperialism, and empower the liberal elements within the countries Washington seeks to assimilate.
This is a view of “peace” that I’ve criticized the Trump tailists for promoting, but there is another right opportunist current which propagates it in a different way: the “dissident right” Hitlerites. This current is one of the prime threats towards the pro-Palestine movement, because it’s being boosted so it can become the main face of the anti-Zionist stance; and to defend the movement against this controlled opposition element, we will need to refute its arguments about geopolitics. Hitlerite grifters like Nick Fuentes do not genuinely oppose imperialism, for the same reason they don’t genuinely care about stopping the genocide; as Fuentes has said, he does want an empire, just not one that’s not multicultural or socially progressive. This is the basis on which Fuentes “supports” Russia and China, with his argument being that these countries can help defeat the multicultural elements inside the U.S. empire.
We can only defend the anti-Zionist movement against the “dissident right” psyop if we come from a truly anti-imperialist position, and keep the fight against this genocide at the center of our practice. When you orient yourself around Palestine’s liberation, and victory for all other forces fighting the hegemon, the importance of supporting the Palestinian resistance becomes apparent. And it’s because covert Zionist assets like Fuentes are not anti-imperialist that they’re against the resistance; Fuentes condemned Hamas this week. As the far right keeps being promoted by the algorithms, there will appear an incentive for more people to hop on the “dissident right” trend, whether overtly or covertly. And part of protecting our movement from this vile opportunism is to keep practicing solidarity with the resistance.
Our fight against the far right is the same fight that we’re waging against liberal Zionism, with its gatekeeping faux-moralism about how we need to oppose the “violence” of the oppressed. The Nick Fuentes types are coming from that place of cowardly acquiescence towards the Zionist narrative; which exposes both the liberalism of the Hitlerites, and the Hitlerism of the liberals. In the Zionist entity, we are facing a true modern Nazi state, with its own project for a Final Solution. We need to treat it as such, and organize the masses for Palestine on that basis.
